Job summary

POET in Sioux Falls, SD invites a Summer 2027 Procurement Intern to join the team. You will assist with managing bid requests, spend analysis, vendor coordination, and data entry to support the procurement cycle from contracts to delivery.

This on-site internship seeks a high school graduate or current student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or Engineering; you should have strong written and oral communication, organizational skills, and familiarity with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, supply chain, or engineering.
• Strong written and oral communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills and adaptability.
• Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute requests for proposals and bid packages, including bid receipt confirmation and documentation management.
• Analyze spend to identify opportunities to increase value.
• Research industry trends to provide strategic recommendations to internal units.
• Extract and summarize data from procurement software.
• Assist with vendor relationship management including researching potential vendors and negotiations.
• Review and update contractor compliance and qualification status of vendors.
• Follow up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery of goods.
• Create vendor scorecards from multiple data sources.
• Provide timely status updates on projects and tasks.
• Contribute to other tasks as needed.
