Job summary

Baillie Lumber in Owego, NY seeks a Procurement Forester to manage purchasing standing timber and oversee harvest operations for a network of hardwood sawmills.

Responsibilities include locating and cruising timber, appraising quality, ensuring BMPs and boundary lines, and handling title research and permit applications. A forestry degree (AS/BS preferred) and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level forestry knowledge or related field preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
• Clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Locate and cruise standing timber to determine quantity.
• Appraise timber for quality and value.
• Oversee harvests and ensure BMPs, boundary lines, and proper trees are observed.
• Perform title research and permits as part of due diligence in purchasing.
