Job summary

Northwest Hardwoods (NWH) in Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Procurement Forester/Log Buyer to manage a territory in northwest PA, developing new suppliers and cultivating landowner relationships. You will locate, assess, cost and negotiate the purchase and harvest of standing timber, to supply logs to multiple hardwood sawmills, while promoting safety and efficient procurement across the region.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in forestry as stated.
• 5+ years of log and timber procurement experience preferred.
• Knowledge of log scaling, grading and Appalachian hardwood species.
• Willingness to work outdoors and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies to source timber for manufacturing needs.
• Manage supplier and landowner relationships.
• Cruise timber to assess land parcel viability.
• Create and manage timber bids and negotiate contracts.
• Ensure due diligence in purchasing and permits.
• Coordinate harvesting and reclamation; monitor safety.
