Job summary

Gilbert Unified School District is seeking a Buyer to research and acquire supplies, materials, equipment, and services in a cost-effective, compliant manner. You will guide order processing, maintain audit-ready documentation, and assist in bidding procedures across district projects.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in business or related field and at least two years’ buyer experience in public procurement, with fingerprint clearance and knowledge of USFR and state rules.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Buyer or in Buyer duties for a public school or public entity.

Responsibilities

• Reviews requirements and researches industry standards and the needs of department users.
• Reviews requisitions for purchase of supplies, services and equipment items.
• Ensures requests comply with Arizona School District Procurement Rules and USFR.
• Drafts and issues high-volume, complex bid and proposal documents to ensure compliance.
• Drafts, evaluates and awards informal quotations.
• Organizes and coordinates implementation of products and services for projects and renovations.
• Conducts pre-bid/pre-proposal conferences and bid openings per rules.
• Establishes evaluation committees and documents evaluation processes.
• Debriefs vendors and responds to bid protests in accordance with rules.
• Recommends contract awards to the Purchasing Supervisor and/or Governing Board.
• Administers and monitors contracts; resolves defaults and disputes; issues amendments.
• Answers questions from vendors, admins, end-users, and the public on procurement issues.
• Researches industry standards, markets, and finance practices.
