Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, IL is seeking a Product Procurement Engineer to bridge engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing. You will drive supplier collaboration, support design control, and ensure production readiness for the Large Tractor line.

You will analyze supplier capabilities, influence sourcing decisions, and lead cross-functional problem-solving to improve quality, delivery, and total value across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Apply working knowledge of fabrication, manufacturing processes, and engineering design controls to evaluate technical challenges and support decision-making.
• Analyze supplier capabilities, quality performance, and business requirements to identify risks and recommend solutions that balance cost, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support the Large Tractor product line by driving supplier collaboration and engineering design control activities.
• Provide technical support for fabricated components, with a focus on light fabrication and burn-to-shape manufacturing processes.
• Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Category Procurement, Manufacturing, and Category teams to resolve supply and production challenges.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and support sourcing and manufacturing decisions.
• Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts to improve quality, shipping, and operational performance.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Change Management, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Analyze technical and business requirements to recommend solutions that support the best outcomes for the business.
