Overview
CEVA Logistics is hiring a Procurement Category Manager in Houston, TX. The role involves strategic procurement across Facilities, Construction, Energy, and Waste categories, managing day‑to‑day procurement activities, data analysis, risk management, and supporting regional implementation of headquarters initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and implement category strategy best practices and initiatives to improve supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, service levels, coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payment, risk compliance, and other identified areas.
- Negotiate savings, VID, and cost avoidance, and report on the company tool monthly.
- Execute category sourcing strategies including development and execution of RFPs, document bids, develop selection criteria, and drive supplier selection in collaboration with cross‑functional teams; conduct supplier negotiations and ongoing management.
- Create major saving projects aligned with company and station needs to optimize budget spend and deliver quality and spend reduction.
- Drive consolidation of spend and seek synergies across Business Units; minimize maverick buying by creating catalogs and strategies.
- Support and enable critical project resourcing initiatives for the team.
- Hold regular meetings and calls with stakeholders to understand needs at station, site, and corporate levels and align them with the category strategy and projects.
- Execute complex analytical scenarios to highlight financial pros and cons of supplier proposals.
- Negotiate contracts in collaboration with Legal and stakeholders.
- Travel as needed for business (up to 10%) to visit sites.
- Lead subject‑matter expert for categories in the US and Canada.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Professional Expertise:
- Minimum 8 years of management experience in procurement processes and negotiation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing.
- Master’s degree (preferably in business administration, economics, finance, or supply chain).
- Excellent analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced language skills (Spanish is a plus).
- Ability to manage time efficiently, handle competing priorities, and work independently with little supervision.
