Job summary

Preferred Materials, Inc. is seeking a Procurement Buyer to select and purchase quality products for our operations in Florida.

You will coordinate scheduling, purchasing of equipment and materials, and expediting services, while managing vendor relationships and ensuring optimal cost within stated timeframes. The role requires 3–5 years in procurement, strong MS Office skills, and the ability to analyze market dynamics and drive price-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years minimum experience in procurement.
  • Experience in a construction environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes and market conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling and purchasing of equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Expedite services and manage vendor relationships to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Communicate changes in quantity, delivery dates or prices to stakeholders.
  • Implement procurement strategy to ensure continuity of supply and best pricing.
  • Analyze spend and market dynamics to define portfolio strategy.
  • Lead supplier development programs as assigned by procurement.

Preferred Materials – Concrete Division

Preferred Materials — part of CRH South Division — is a leading supplier of ready‑mix concrete, concrete block, rebar and building materials in the state of Florida. Role Overview

Procurement Buyer: Responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our business. This role will coordinate the scheduling, purchasing of equipment, materials, supplies and expediting services. In addition, this role will manage all vendor relationships and ensure ordered products are purchased at optimum cost and received within the stated timeframe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with vendors to ensure on time deliveries, consistent quality, and uninterrupted supply chain, and best pricing
  • Handle correspondence concerning under/over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, or prices and report such changes to the internal stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve any/all procurement related challenges
  • Implement procurement strategy to ensure continuity of supply and alternative source of supply
  • Understand & communicate market dynamics & price movements
  • Analyze spend for vendors and service providers to define portfolio strategy
  • Lead quality improvement program for vendors and service providers
  • Analyze inventory and payment terms financial impact
  • Deliver price saving projects as defined by the procurement manager
  • Lead supplier development program as assigned by procurement
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Post‑secondary education and/or work experience in a related field
  • 3 to 5 years’ minimum experience working in procurement
  • Experience working in a construction environment is preferred
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional time‑management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, able to work on multiple projects at the same time and effectively manage priorities
  • Ability to manage and coordinate competing organizational needs
  • Knowledge and experience with strategic procurement process, procurement best practices, import regulations, competitive bidding, market conditions, general contract terms and conditions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to distill strategy into a clear, compelling, and concise narrative
  • Ability to analyze complex data and derive well‑supported conclusions
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills
