Job summary

Samtec in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a Procurement Buyer for a day shift (Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM). You will quote, issue POs, and coordinate with global vendors for tooling and equipment while ensuring timely delivery and accurate documentation.

You will work with engineers and internal customers on requirements, maintaining asset records and supporting basic project management. A strong eye for detail and communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of purchasing experience in a highly technical industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with technical components and industrial equipment procurement.
  • Ability to read mechanical prints (CAD drawings).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Exposure to CAD/CAM or SolidWorks PDM is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Quote and place POs for tooling, equipment, hardware, and other items from global vendors.
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery and provide updates to engineering teams.
  • Compile print packages (PDFs and solid models) for quoting.
  • Review purchasing terms to ensure Samtec requirements are met.
  • Ensure assets are tracked in Samtec asset management systems.
  • Onboard new equipment through Samtec tooling qualification process.
  • Coordinate shipping and crating for tooling and equipment.
  • Document assets during transfers.

Job description

Samtec is looking for a Procurement Buyer to work in our Colorado Springs, CO facility. This is a day shift position. Hours are M-F 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.Pay is $24.00 - $ 28.00 per hourplus applicable bonus and is commensurate with experience. Standardbenefits are medical (HSA/PPO) dental, vision, hearing, group life, AD&D, short and long term disability, EAP, 401K plus other voluntary options, as well as paid time off.

The procurement buyerwill require excellent attention to detail and communication skills. Examples of typical duties will include compiling prints, requesting quotes, placing POs, communicating with vendors, following up on delivery dates, and coordinating shipping for equipment. This role will also include basic project and asset management. Communication and schedule management skills will be used daily when discussing requirements with internal customers and external vendors.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities
  • Responsible for quoting and placing PO’s for custom tooling, equipment, hardware, and other miscellaneous items through global vendors
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure on time delivery of components, provide updates to engineering team when there are delays or questions from the vendor
  • Compile print packages with PDF’s and solid models to send to vendors for quoting
  • Review purchasing agreements with vendors to ensure terms meet Samtec requirements
  • Ensure equipment is set up with Samtec asset management systems correctly
  • Onboard new equipment through the Samtec tooling qualification process
  • Coordinate shipping and crating for tooling and equipment
  • Ensure proper documentation of assets during equipment transfers.

Required Experience
  • 2 – 5 Years’ experience in similar Purchasing role in a highly technical industry
  • Professional knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate ability to quickly learn job specific software packages
  • Experience procuring technical components and industrial equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of terms and conditions
  • Mechanical print reading skills required
  • Excellent organizational, communication (both written and verbal), and people skills 8. Must be detail oriented and concerned with timely handling of requests
  • Project Management training or experience is a plus
  • Solidworks and Solidworks PDM or other CAD software knowledge a plus for accumulation of drawing packages.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience procuring from machine shops is preferred
Education

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
