  • Maintains building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management.
  • Ensures safety standards and budget adherence for work orders.

Job description

Samtec is looking for a Facilities Technician to work first shift in our Colorado Springs, CO location. First shift hours are M-F 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

  • Pay is $24.00 - $30.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience.

The facilities Technician focuses specifically on Samtec Microelectronics’ site infrastructure and working environment through the performance of assigned tasks.

While performing the duties of this job, this position is regularly required to use English written and oral communication skills; interact appropriately with staff, manage contractors, vendors and others encountered in the course of work; read and interpret a variety of documents and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; analyze and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; establish priorities and works on multiple assignments and projects concurrently.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Performs day-to-day facilities preventative maintenance and repairs for the office, clean room and electronics lab areas in a timely manner.
  • Makes daily walk-through inspections of the premises to determine repair work necessary and identify safety hazards within the building.
  • Takes ownership of the company’s building maintenance.
  • Oversees contractors performing work in the interior and exterior of the facility.
  • Strong communication skillset (verbal and written) to present to all levels of leadership within the facility.
  • Familiar with standard building construction and maintenance procedures.
  • Utilize policies and procedures that ensure optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment.
  • Provides a safe, clean, comfortable, compliant, scalable environment while maximizing cost saving opportunities.
  • Manages all building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, refrigeration, and waste management.
  • Ensure facilities maintenance work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, and that work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines.
  • Making periodic or special inspections of premises to identify opportunities for improvement of safety, function, organization, efficiency, and aesthetics.
  • Assure and monitor compliance for production environments – particle monitoring, ESD program, temperature, humidity, etc.
  • Maintaining compliance with OSHA, HAZ waste, city building codes and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining maintenance logs, equipment data and building files.
  • Responsible for coordinating layout changes with the design team or owning drawings

Required Experience:
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience working in a high-tech environment and/or direct hands-on experience with Industrial Facilities Management.
  • Experience working in a high-tech environment or hands-on experience with commercial building systems.
  • Capability of lifting 50 lbs. from floor to waist and have full use of all digits.
  • Capability of standing and/or sitting for more than 90 minutes straight and not suffering from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
  • Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions: Must be willing to work in a chemical environment as well as adhere to all department safety rules and regulations.
  • Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, knowledge and advanced troubleshooting a plus.
  • Professional certifications are a plus. (608A, OSHA, Forklift licensure etc.)
  • Tool Knowledge– Hand tool knowledge and use of is required. Specialty tool knowledge and use is a plus.
  • Problem Solving- Strives to understand contributing factors, works to resolve complex situations.
  • Productivity- Manages workload, works efficiently, meets goals and objectives
  • Customer service – Provides sudden and positive service to internal and external customers. Has relational ability to work across different teams and organizations.
  • Computer Skills– Proficient with Outlook, Excel, Word and Visio, takes advantage of new technology, learns new tools quickly, uses technology to enhance job performance.
Preferred Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical Degree or equivalent is preferred.
