Job summary

Hypertherm Associates is seeking an Associate Category Specialist to support procurement of industrial materials and equipment for the Waterjet team in Kent, Washington. You will assess risk, support NPI activities, and drive cost-saving initiatives while following established processes.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree with 2–3 years of supply chain experience, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and a detail-oriented mindset. Travel up to 10% domestically may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 2–3 years supply chain experience.
• Proven analytical skills (cost/benefit analysis, make/buy decisions).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure materials are delivered on time, at best price, and meet quality requirements.
• Communicate with suppliers about pricing, deliveries, inventory changes, and product updates.
• Share supplier performance information to support sourcing decisions and follow-up actions.
• Identify and document cost-saving opportunities for current manufacturing and future projects.
• Create and update purchase orders following established processes.
• Support contract compliance, invoicing questions, and ECO activities.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings and cost-reduction projects.
