Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Procurement Officer to join our finance team. This entry-point role offers exposure to sourcing, purchase orders, and procurement records, with opportunities to learn negotiation, contract administration, and cost analysis.

You will support the procurement function daily, collaborate with colleagues, and develop skills in standard procurement practices within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Business Administration or related field.
• Up to 2 years in purchasing, procurement, or administrative role.
• Basic understanding of procurement principles.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.
• Team-oriented and collaborative.
• Familiarity with basic contract terms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sourcing suppliers for goods and services required by the organization.
• Obtain quotes from suppliers and prepare comparative analysis reports.
• Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders in the procurement system.
• Ensure timely delivery of goods and services, and follow up with suppliers as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and filing systems.
• Assist in the evaluation of supplier performance and adherence to contractual terms.
• Support senior procurement staff in negotiating prices and terms with suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
• Assist with the management of inventory for office supplies and other essential materials.
• Handle basic inquiries from internal departments regarding procurement status.
• Contribute to cost-saving initiatives by identifying potential areas for improvement.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to departmental goals.
