Job summary

Riverbanks Zoo & Garden in Columbia, SC is seeking an Accountant to manage procurement, capital projects, and asset reporting. The role works with the VP of Finance to ensure GAAP/GASB compliance and accurate contract administration.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's or Associate degree in accounting and at least five years of related experience, with attention to detail and strong communication. Candidates must pass background checks and obtain a SC driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• Five+ years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or procurement.
• Pass a criminal and credit background check and have or obtain SC driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist VP of Finance in procurement for capital projects, PPE, contracts, and leases.
• Develop bid documents and manage solicitation processes, including advertisements and bidder questions.
• Review purchase orders and authorize procurement within policy; liaise between departments and vendors.
• Oversee receipt of goods and payments, resolve vendor discrepancies.
• Maintain capital asset ledger, depreciation, and annual roll forward for audits.
• Coordinate with State Insurance Reserve Fund to manage insurance coverage and renewals.
• Maintain master contracts list with terms and payment schedules.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and contribute to month-end close.
• Assist with ad hoc reporting as needed.
