Job summary

SSAB CTL in Houston, TX is seeking a procurement professional to maintain steel inventory and oversee MRO supplies and services across Houston and Toronto facilities. Responsibilities

• Manage discrete plate, coil, and CTL inventories to support Commercial activities.

• Maintain supplier relationships across SSAB departments (Sales, Planning, Transportation).
• Provide reports on supply chain activities (daily, weekly, monthly).
• Approve requisitions and expedite as required.
• Administer procurement systems and maintain records.

Job description

Position Purpose

Maintaining adequate supplies of steel inventory to meet the Commercial and Operational requirements at SSAB CTL operations. Provides oversight and functional responsibilities for the purchasing of MRO supplies and services at both the Houston, Tx and Toronto facilities.

Essential Functions

Manage discrete plate, coil, and CTL inventories in support of Commercial activities at SSAB CTL operations.

• Develop and maintain a business plan in support of corporate goals for total inventory, turnover rates, and aged inventory.
• Place purchase orders with SSAB mills and 3rd‑party suppliers in accordance with specifications and delivery requirements.
• Assure the timely receipt, in good order, of all steel products purchased/ordered.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and relevant SSAB departments (Sales, Planning, and Transportation) in pursuit of these activities.
• Provide reports relevant to supply chain activities to business owners and team members, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports (as needed).
• File claims with mills or 3rd‑party suppliers as required.
• Approve requisitions, place purchase orders, and expedite as required.
• Facilitate MRO‑related projects and contracts as needed.
• Assure compliance to all SSAB corporate policies and procedures.
• Fully participate with procurement peers in sourcing events, systems, initiatives, and other activities as required.
• Administer procurement systems as assigned.
• Maintain purchasing and supplier management records as required by the company’s Quality Management System, document retention policy, financial requirements, and other company directives.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The employee will frequently be required to operate in an office environment, utilizing standard office equipment, maintain a partially sedentary posture, and lift up to 30 lbs. Additional activities include walking to/from and standing at alternative work areas, filing, and handling materials.

The employee will occasionally be required to work in the mill environment with exposure to heat/cold, walking/stairs, noise, and wearing safety equipment for plant tours, as well as driving departmental errands and trainings.

Position Type – Work Hours – Travel Requirements

• Position is full time, exempt, and is not eligible for overtime.
• Position works an eight (8) hour day shift, Monday through Friday; occasional overtime may be required.
• Travel for this position is limited and expected to comprise less than 5% of work hours.
