Job summary

Chobani seeks a Dairy Processing Relief Operator to provide vacation relief for Milk Receiving, HTST, and Quark Separator roles. The role focuses on safety, food safety, and product quality, following GMPs and plant procedures.

The position requires operating, cleaning, and process documentation while coordinating with Dairy Processing teams to maintain smooth production flow and timely sample collection for QA testing.

Qualifications

  • Experience in dairy processing, HTST, separators or CIP systems preferred.
  • Ability to learn and operate process control systems and recordkeeping.
  • Strong safety focus and quality consciousness in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate safety, quality, or equipment concerns to leads or QA.
  • Maintain accurate operating, cleaning, and process documentation.
  • Coordinate production and cleaning with Dairy Processing teams.
  • Take milk truck samples and inspect deliveries prior to unloading.
  • Load/unload trucks safely and monitor silo cleaning schedules.
  • Lead pasteurization activities and verify equipment operation.
  • Review CIP records and ensure proper wash validation steps.
  • Manage CIP cycles and coordinate cleaning with other departments.

Summary

Dairy Processing Relief Operator

Position Summary

The Dairy Processing Vacation Relief Operator provides vacation relief and operational coverage for the Milk Receiving Operator, HTST Operator, and Quark Separator Operator positions. The position is responsible for protecting employee safety, food safety, and product quality while following applicable safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and operating requirements.

Responsibilities
  • follow all safety policies, procedures, required personal protective equipment, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Promptly communicate safety, quality, or equipment concerns to the lead, supervisor, Quality Assurance, or maintenance as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and timely operating, cleaning, and process documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with Dairy Processing teams and supporting departments to coordinate production, cleaning, material flow, and equipment needs.
  • Take samples from and visually inspect milk trucks prior to unloading.
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor silo cleaning timers and ensure silos are washed in a timely manner.
  • Operate and run the scale house when needed based on business needs
  • Lead product pasteurization activities during the assigned shift and verify that equipment is operating properly.
  • Complete accurate and legible chart documentation, including seal status and required cut-in and cut-out validation before production.
  • Print and review clean-in-place records immediately after washing, including temperature, flow, titration, and time trends; follow required escalation, swabbing, and rewash steps when results are in question.
  • Start up, shut down, and clean the whey reverse osmosis system.
  • Pull samples for Quality Assurance butterfat testing on skim and cream and notify the supervisor when results are out of line.
  • Partner with leads and maintenance to troubleshoot operational problems and support work with maintenance and/or the state inspector during ISDA audits.
  • Disassemble and assemble KDB strainers/separators.
  • Navigate and operate the process HMI computer system and manage product routing based on operational needs.
  • Manage clean-in-place cycles for equipment on the pasteurized and whey CIP stations, coordinate cleaning schedules with other departments, and communicate completion to support filler operation and prevent product loss.
  • Use Historian on the computer network to verify that completed clean-in-place cycles are valid.
  • Collect post-inoculation samples when maturation tanks are filled and run results on the FT2.
  • Recalibrate the pH meter and test pH on maturation tanks, separators, and CY tanks.
Requirements
  • Dairy, processing, separator, and clean-in-place experience preferred.
  • Basic math and computer skills, including the ability to learn and navigate HMI and network-based process systems.
  • Understanding of dairy processing flow, HTST systems, separators, and clean-in-place systems, or the ability to become qualified in each covered assignment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain effective communication during routine and stressful situations.
  • Must have or obtain certification to do milk samples.
  • Ability to work independently within established procedures and collaborate with Quality Assurance, maintenance, leadership, and other departments.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours, including on wet floors.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced processing environment and wear required personal protective equipment.

The salary range for this full-time position is$27.75-$37.25, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
