Position Overview

At JGM, a Processing Foreman is primarily focused on working with and through their crew of Operators by building and maintaining strong working relationships. The Processing Foreman creates a positive, disciplined work environment aligned with JGM values and maintains clear, consistent communication with the Plant Superintendent and leadership regarding needs and constraints.

This role owns the processing operation, from equipment scheduling and uptime to programming, quality, and crew development, ensuring material moves through the shop safely, accurately, and on schedule. The Processing Foreman is expected to lead with a lean mindset: eliminating waste, standardizing the best-known method, and improving flow a little every day.

Our Processing Foreman must be genuinely interested in the needs of management, their crew, and our clients, in an environment that is fast paced but never at the sacrifice of best-in-class safety and quality standards.

You\'ll lead a crew running a modern, crane-served processing bay with industry-leading CNC drilling, cutting, coping, and plate processing equipment.

Schedule: Day shift

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a positive, disciplined work environment aligned with JGM\'s values, leading by example on safety, housekeeping, and discipline at the machines

  • Maintain clear communication with the Plant Superintendent and leadership on processing needs, constraints, and priorities

  • Maintain deep knowledge of processing capabilities, systems, and quality requirements; verify output meets specifications and drive first-piece discipline on every run

  • Operate and troubleshoot processing/CNC equipment across the plant, rotating across systems and leading complex setups and crew troubleshooting

  • Maintain a working understanding of Tekla / PowerFab (P2) equipment software and train the team on its use

  • Ensure gages and check tools are in date and used correctly to support calibration discipline

  • Plan consumables and coordinate preventive maintenance to protect uptime; schedule equipment to meet fabrication demand while protecting runtime efficiency targets

  • Work with programming to improve cycle/run time and reduce waste and scrap

  • Apply lean principles (5S, standard work, waste elimination) to drive continuous improvement; own downtime tracking and lead root-cause corrective action for repeat issues

  • Develop and coach Operators, standardizing best practices across shifts and maintaining accountability and morale

  • Support production planning with accurate capacity and constraint input; update SOPs and checklists as processes improve and train the team accordingly

  • Ensure the crew follows daily pre-task plans/JHAs, PPE requirements, and LOTO, hot work, and lifting/rigging rules; champion the Good Catch program and a no-blame safety culture

  • Enforce all safety regulations and company policies, working with the Health & Safety Manager as needed

  • Assist in staffing and interviewing new Operators and processing personnel

  • Enforce shop housekeeping rules and keep the processing bay organized

  • Perform equipment operations as necessary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience in a fabrication or processing shop environment

  • Working understanding of Tekla / PowerFab (P2) equipment software, with the ability to train others

  • Demonstrated knowledge of structural fabrication and processing equipment capabilities

  • OSHA 10 certification

  • Ability to motivate a crew while staying aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns

  • Desire to learn and ability to teach and develop others

  • Close, friendly follow-up style to ensure high-quality standards and continued team development

  • Ability to closely follow guidelines, structure, and established policies

  • A "how can I help you?" attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves when necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in fabrication/processing, overseeing 5–15 operators, helpers, and/or apprentices

  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing/management practices (5S, standard work, visual management, waste reduction, kaizen), with a track record of driving measurable improvement on the floor

  • OSHA 30 certification, or in progress per company plan
