Job summary

Boise Cascade Company is seeking a dedicated machine operator to support daily production in Thorsby, Alabama. You will operate manufacturing equipment, document activities, and help reduce downtime while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include shift communication, PM support, prioritizing work orders, and collaborating with planners and technicians. Ability to work 12-hour shifts, nights and days, and endure a hot, dusty environment is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least six (6) months of experience in manufacturing, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, construction, warehouse, or military environment.
• Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions.
• Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Willing and able to work a rotating twelve (12) hour shift (days and nights).
• Willing and able to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environments.
• Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
• Willing and able to wear safety equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, etc.).
• Preferred: forklift experience; lumber/wood products experience; equipment troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete accurate and timely documentation.
• Look for opportunities to reduce downtime.
• Perform first line maintenance task.
• Assist in prioritization of scheduled work orders.
• Communicate with planners and schedulers to prioritize critical work.
• Know and understand the work in the backlog.
• Assist maintenance and production with PMs; 100% of PMs completed timely.
• Assist maintenance and production leaders to investigate root cause of downtime events.
• Minimize product waste.
• Communicate quality issues to Lead Technician and team; provide corrective feedback.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
• Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
• Willing and able to work a rotating twelve (12) hour shift (days and nights)
• Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment
• Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
• Willing and able to wear safety equipment, i.: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and other PPE as required by specific jobs
• Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day Preferred Qualifications:
• At least one (1) year of experience working as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment
• Experience operating a forklift
• Experience working in lumber or wood productsExperience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing environment
