Job summary

Danfoss in Ames, IA is seeking a Process Technician on 2nd shift to join the assembly team. You will manage setup, testing, and troubleshooting of hydrostatic pumps, motors, and components within assembly cells.

The role emphasizes applying process changes, data gathering, and implementing poka-yokes while collaborating with Process Engineers and maintenance. On-site work in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent from Technical School and 6 months related experience on Danfoss products.
• Desire for a 4-year degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mfg. Engineering or ME/AgE.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes and poke yokes.
• Working knowledge of quality/problem solving tools (PPAP, Capability studies, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, 4-Step, 8D, Fishbone).

Responsibilities

• Monitors and troubleshoots electrical and mechanical equipment used in the assembly process to build hydrostatic pumps, motors, and components.
• Provide line support for the assembly cell and escalate manufacturing issues related to safety and process quality.
• Troubleshoot daily issues and prevent recurrence by providing tools, visual aids, SOPs, and training.
• Assist in daily activities of implementing process changes and problem solving on the shop floor.
• Assist in proving out new processes and process changes by gathering data and observing the process.
• Help design and implement manufacturing controls such as Poka-Yokes on assembly lines.
• Lead or assist on tactical implementation projects.
• Work closely with Process Engineers, Maintenance, Controls, Calibration, and support functions.

The Impact You'll Make

We have an immediate opportunity for aProcess Technician(AssemblyTeam)to join us at ourAmes, Iowalocation in the US. The Process Technician will be responsible for the assembly process in assembly cells from set-up to testing.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Monitors & trouble shoots electrical & mechanical equipment used in the assembly process to build hydrostatic pumps, motors, and components
• Provide line support for the assembly cell and is the next level of escalation after the cell expert for manufacturing issues related to safety and process quality
• Troubleshooting daily issues and eliminating issues from recurring by giving others the tools resolve the issues themselves, using visual aids, SOP's, training, etc.
• Assist in the daily activities of implementing process changes and problem solving on the shop floor
• Assists in the prove-out of new processes and process changes by gathering data, time studies, making observations about the process, and communicating ideas to improve results
• Help design and implement manufacturing controls, such as Poka-Yokes on assembly lines
• Leads or assists on tactical implementation projects
• Works closely with the Process Engineers, Maintenance, Controls, Calibration, as well as other support functions

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of an AA degree or equivalent from Technical School; and 6 months related experience on Danfoss products. Desire for 4-year degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mfg. Engineering or ME/AgE
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes, process aids, and poke yokes
• Working knowledge of quality/problem solving tools (PPAP, Capability studies, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, 4-Step, 8D, Fishbone)
• Computer skills, (Microsoft Office, PLC, test stand, CAD modeling)
• Familiarity with TPM and SMED techniques
• Customer Service mindset and the ability to stay calm under pressure are necessary traits.
• Ability to read electric and hydraulic schematics, ability to understand complex hydraulic systems
• Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment (e.g., measurement devices for current, pressure, flow, temperature, torque, etc.)
• Excellent safety record and approach to behavioral based safety using proper PPE are requirements.
• Able to interact with all levels of organization (Shop floor to Management)
