Responsibilities
- Schedule M-F 7:45am-4:15pm
- Responsible for the set-up of molding components.
- Responsible for the set-up and start-up of production machines including conveyors, secondary bottle handling equipment, vision systems, leak detection systems, SPC systems, etc.
- Submission of bottles for first article approval to QA.
- Makes stable, repeatable, properly tuned processes of production machines.
- Makes necessary adjustments to tooling and machines.
- Maintains all machine guards and safety circuits to original condition and makes safety the first priority in all activities.
- Supports efforts to maintain and improve overall machine condition.
- Completes mold PM’s, tooling evaluations, cleaning, assembling, and installing molding components and related equipment.
- Inputs data into the Mold Data Bank System.
- Strives for constant process improvements, production efficiency, and scrap reduction.
- Utilizes the Mattec System and its SPC capabilities.
- Assists the Production Group Leaders in process improvements.
- Assists in shipping and receiving of molding components and maintains inventory levels.
- Completes start-up reports and machine set-up sheets.
- Contributes to team efforts and supports all Berry safety policies and GMPs.
- Follows housekeeping standards and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills
- Extensive expertise in at least one process discipline, including troubleshooting, repairing molds/machines, and performing start-ups.
- Proficiency in Stretch Blow Molding Process (SBM): mold setup, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, and mini-first articles.
- Proficiency in Extrusion Blow Molding Process (EBM): mold setup, installation, troubleshooting, and process tuning.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate integrated Injection Stretch Blow Molding Machines (SIPA), including mold assembly, defect identification, and process troubleshooting.
- Ability to interface positively with personnel, follow safety procedures, and maintain GMP standards.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a plastics environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime on short notice.
- Must work safely around hot plastics, oils, metals, and in noisy environments.
- Ability to lift 10-35 lbs, stand for 7 hours, and perform visual and auditory defect detection.
