Job Responsibilities:
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs start-up and shutdown of plastic injection molding machines and ensures that all sub systems (i.e., water, materials, heaters, robots, etc.) are operational.
- Debugs and troubleshoots injection molding process problems for new or existing products to continuously improve part quality and yields.
- Adjusts within process parameters and recommends any changes for improved efficiencies to the Molding Process Engineer or department managers. This includes but is not limited to tool modifications, robotics, and injection molding machine process changes.
- Adjusts process parameters when needed and notifies appropriate resources. Properly documents any changes made from tolerance.
- Transfers current processes from one press to another when a job needs to be moved.
- Continually monitor all processes related to assigned presses to ensure equipment is running smoothly and efficiently, and that parts meet customer requirements while working to reduce scrap.
- Resolve any product non-conformity issues that may arise as requested by the Team Coordinator, Quality Engineer, or Press Operator.
- Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding performance of machines/equipment in assigned area and to verify changeovers and/or schedule changes.
- Identify growth and development opportunities and provide on-going training needs for Manufacturing Set-Up Technicians and Mold Setters.
- Support Departmental KOI goals to achieve business objectives related to uptime, part quality, mold change time and cycle time.Continually strive to exceed goals.
- As needed, changes insert, molds, dies, or fixtures and performs minor tool repair,
- Maintain a high departmental standard for housekeeping in your area.
- Follows procedures pertaining to safety which includes prescribed lock out procedures when working on equipment to prevent injury.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous and regulated wastes including used oil and aerosol can waste.
- Attends and participates in regular work team meetings.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year experience in plastics engineering and 2 or more years related experience or
- 2-year degree in plastics engineering and 8 or more years plastics process engineering experience or equivalent.
- Positive communication skills both interpersonal and with teams. Strong written and verbal skills.
- 4. Ability to train and develop skills of mold setters and others
- 5. Ability to problem solve issues in a timely manner without engineering support.
- 6. History of constructive continuous improvement ideas and suggestions.
- 7. Experience writing programs for all “in-house” robots.
