Job Details
Title: Process Engineering Tech I (or II, or III)
Department: Plant Engineering
Supervisor: Plant Engineering Manager
Education: BS in engineering, industrial technology, or plastics technology
Certificates: 3D design software, Excel macros, project management
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize employee safety and health above all duties
- Monitor cycle times and adjust processes for accuracy during production
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Modify processes for product orders
- Correct errors and collaborate with operators to improve process clarity and effectiveness
- Conduct mechanical tasks such as process monitoring, sampling, testing, and equipment preparation for maintenance
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Ensure equipment and processes meet production standards
- Monitor operations to meet quality and customer specifications
- Assist maintenance with preventative maintenance projects
- Back-up on running presses and shift supervision
- Conduct test and trial runs as needed
- Assist in mold changes and repairs to optimize molding processes
- Maintain cleanliness of work area
- Train production supervisors and other technicians
- Perform all duties emphasizing quality and safety
Additional Requirements for Technician II
- Electrical and pneumatic instrumentation and control systems repair and replacement
- Improve existing manufacturing practices
- Create and manipulate databases and charts, including Pareto charts
- Develop projects to improve PPKs
- Calibrate quality equipment proficiently
- Knowledge of thermoforming and extrusion processes, including setup and recipe development
- Identify deficiencies and implement countermeasures
- Proficient with Infinity database, Agile, Vorne, OEE studio
Additional Requirements for Technician III
- Lead an SPS team
- Develop blue belt projects
- Proficient with 3D design software (AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, INVENTOR)
- Handle projects involving equipment upgrades and contractor management
- Create and manage CAA capital projects
- Propose and implement continuous improvement projects
- Communicate professionally with customers
- Implement visual controls and standard work
- Collaborate with plant and management on safety initiatives
