  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve production efficiency, throughput, equipment reliability, and operational performance.
  • Observe manufacturing and maintenance activities, document inefficiencies and production constraints, perform data-driven analyses, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track corrective actions, verify completion, and measure the effectiveness of implemented improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, skilled trades, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Coordinate repairs, equipment modifications, replacement parts, and external technical support.
  • Share lessons learned and promote consistent application of maintenance and operational best practices.
  • Support manufacturing teams during equipment installation, commissioning, launch, production ramp-up, and ongoing operations.

Tandem is recruiting for a FULL -TIME POSITION as a Overall Process Efficiency Improvement Technician with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience to support our clients projects in our DETROIT, MI LOCATION.

Requirements:
  • 2-3 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Knowledge of automotive or manufacturing industries is considered an asset.

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, preventive maintenance practices, and production processes.
  • Experience identifying equipment or process inefficiencies, developing corrective actions, and tracking improvements through completion.
  • Familiarity with key manufacturing performance indicators, including throughput, cycle time, downtime, equipment availability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Software
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Highly motivated, with superb interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure with tight deadlines, multiple priorities and fluctuating and conflicting schedules
  • Must have superior time management skills and the ability to multi-task with multiple projects
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered an asset
Responsibilities and Duties:

The Overall Process Efficiency Improvement (OPE) Technician supports manufacturing leadership by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve production efficiency, throughput, equipment reliability, and operational performance.

This position observes manufacturing and maintenance activities, documents inefficiencies and production constraints, performs data-driven analyses, recommends corrective actions, and tracks improvements through completion. The OPE Technician works closely with production, maintenance, engineering, skilled trades, contractors, and equipment suppliers to reduce downtime, improve process stability, and increase the reliability and useful life of manufacturing equipment and facilities.

The Overall Process Efficiency Improvement (OPE Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, the following

  • Observe manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, production constraints, and sources of downtime.
  • Analyze cycle times, throughput, equipment performance, and operational data.
  • Document identified issues and recommend practical corrective actions.
  • Support the development and implementation of process improvement plans.
  • Track corrective actions, verify completion, and measure the effectiveness of implemented improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production capacity, equipment utilization, labor efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Conduct field inspections of manufacturing equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment failures, recurring downtime, and process interruptions.
  • Support continuous improvement activities using established problem-solving and root-cause analysis methods.
  • Evaluate the maintenance requirements of manufacturing equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Identify equipment conditions that may affect production efficiency, reliability, safety, quality, or throughput.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, skilled trades, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Coordinate repairs, equipment modifications, replacement parts, and external technical support.
  • Share lessons learned and promote consistent application of maintenance and operational best practices.
  • Support manufacturing teams during equipment installation, commissioning, launch, production ramp-up, and ongoing operations.

This position operates within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment and may require time on the production floor to support manufacturing operations and engineering activities
