Job summary

Tandem Group Consulting Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to support automotive high-volume production. You will develop and improve production processes, assist in station design, perform root-cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, delivery and cost.

Based in Toledo, OH, the role requires 2–5 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and CAD proficiency. Domestic travel up to 25% is noted; Lean Six Sigma is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechanical or Industrial preferred).
  • 2–5 years in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, root cause analysis).
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve production processes to support operations.
  • Assist in station design, layout development, and process optimization using CAD.
  • Analyze engineering changes and assess impacts on manpower, tooling, and materials.
  • Support production launch activities and process validation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing issues using structured methods.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Monitor production and quality metrics and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and reports.

Job Description

The Manufacturing / Process Engineeris responsible forsupporting manufacturing operations through process development, station design, problem solving, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and engineering to ensure manufacturing processes meet quality, safety, and efficiencyobjectiveswithin a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate willdemonstratestrong technical problem-solving capabilities, experience working in fast-paced manufacturing environments, and the ability to support production and engineering activities throughout program launch and ongoing operations.

  • Support manufacturing operations by developing, implementing, and improving production processes.
  • Assistinmanufacturing station design, layout development, and process optimizationusing CAD and other engineering tools.
  • Analyze engineering changes and assess impacts tomanpower, tooling, materials, and facility requirements.
  • Supportproduction launch activities, including process validation and line readiness.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues and conductroot cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, etc.).
  • Drivecontinuous improvement initiativesto enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Monitor production and quality performance metrics and implement corrective actions whererequired.
  • Supportproduct and process auditsand ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams includingmanufacturing, quality, maintenance, and engineeringto resolve production issues.
  • Develop andmaintaintechnical documentation includingwork instructions, process documentation, and engineering reports.
  • Provide technical updates and reports to leadership and project stakeholders asrequired.
  • Supportadditionalengineering projects and assignments as needed.

This positionoperateswithin ahigh-volume automotive manufacturing environmentand may require time on the production floor to support manufacturing operations and engineering activities.

This position islocated in Toledo,OHand the successful candidate must work at the site daily Monday to Friday with overtime as needed.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineeringrequired(Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Master’s degree in Engineeringconsidered an asset.
  • 2–5 years of experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supportingmanufacturing processes, production operations, or engineering changes.
  • Experience withstructured problem-solving methodologies (8D, root cause analysis, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiencyin interpretingtechnical documentation, engineering drawings, and process documentation.
  • Strong communicationand interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience withmanufacturing station design and CAD tools.
  • Experience withQuality Management Systems within automotive manufacturing.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) considered an asset.
  • Experience supportingmanufacturing launch activities.
  • Global or cross-functional project experience considered an asset.
  • Additionallanguage skills considered an asset.
