Job Title: Process Technician

Job Description

The Process Technician plays a key role in semiconductor wafer fabrication, performing complex processing tasks in photolithography, etching, thin films, and metals deposition with high precision and repeatability. This role focuses on handling semiconductor wafers and small opto-electronic components, recording and analyzing process data, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve yield, quality, and throughput. The technician maintains a clean, safe working environment and supports the development and refinement of processing techniques for both new and existing products.

Responsibilities

• Perform semiconductor wafer processing tasks in photolithography, etching, thin films, and metals deposition with precision and repeatability.
• Handle semiconductor wafers and small, sensitive opto-electronic components with care to prevent damage and ensure product quality.
• Record process data and equipment logs accurately to identify trends, diagnose process issues, and support corrective actions that improve yield, quality, and throughput.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to develop, refine, and optimize processing techniques, tool recipes, and maintenance schedules for new and existing products.
• Follow detailed process instructions and standard operating procedures with minimal supervision while maintaining consistent process execution.
• Use computer systems and Microsoft 365 applications to document work, analyze data, and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on process performance and suggesting enhancements to tools and workflows.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with cleanroom protocols, industry standards, and company policies.
• Adhere to ITAR-related procedures and security requirements when working with controlled technologies and products.
• Adapt to changing priorities and production schedules as needed, including working additional hours when required to meet operational goals.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a semiconductor processing environment.
• Proven experience performing photolithography, etching, thin films, and metals deposition processes.
• Experience handling delicate optoelectronic components in a manufacturing or cleanroom environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, for data entry, analysis, and communication.
• Ability to follow detailed process instructions and standard operating procedures with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret process data and identify trends or issues.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to product quality and workplace safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with sensor, electronics, or electromechanical product assembly processes.
• Experience working in an ITAR environment and following related compliance procedures.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to work additional hours if required.
• General proficiency in using computers and production-related software tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics, Physics, Material Science, or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience in a focal plane array manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Experience with wafer fabrication processes beyond core responsibilities is beneficial.
• Comfort working with small, sensitive opto-electronic components and precision assemblies.
• Background in sensor, electronics, or electromechanical product assembly is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

Work Environment

This role is based on a semiconductor manufacturing floor and primarily takes place in a cleanroom environment that requires adherence to strict cleanliness, safety, and contamination control protocols. The Process Technician works as part of a small team of three process technicians, collaborating closely with engineering and production staff. The facility operates in an ITAR-controlled environment, with processes and products subject to specific security and compliance requirements. The company is experiencing rapid growth, with significant revenue expansion over the past several years and a strong pipeline of sustained programs for at least the next five years, offering substantial opportunity for professional development and career advancement. The organization is backed by a large aerospace group, providing stability and access to advanced technologies and resources. Work hours may occasionally extend beyond standard schedules, and the technician may be asked to work additional hours to support production demands. Cleanroom attire and proper use of personal protective equipment are required at all times while working in controlled areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camarillo, CA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
