Job summary

Valmet seeks a Lead Start Up Engineer for North America to oversee the site phase of tissue machine projects. You will check-out, verify, and start-up in accordance with drawings and documentation, acting as Valmet's representative to the client.

The role covers Engineering & Sourcing, Site, and Guarantee phases, with travel required (over 50%). Positions include Green Bay, WI and Biddeford, ME. Must be authorized to work in the United States with a valid US passport.

Qualifications

• Higher education degree in Mechanical, Technical, Pulp and Paper or related field.
• Preferred 2-year minimum experience with project start up engineering or leading projects.
• Industry-related Project Management experience is essential.
• Travel will be required - estimate could reach more than 50%.

Responsibilities

• Plan the check-out of own part of the project and establish ECOs, participate in the check-out in the assembly hall, and create a checkout schedule.
• Coordinate and report to the Commissioning Coordinator during Site phase; manage resources and progress reporting to Site manager/Installation Coordinator/Project manager.
• Act as Valmet Start-Up Coordinator when Commissioning Coordinator is not on site or not included in contract.
• Support the Reference Manager to ensure the scope of delivery works in the customer environment and assist after takeover until handover.

Expand your technical and organizational expertise as a Lead Start up Engineer for North America

As a Lead Start Up Engineer at Valmet. you will apply your skills and experience at the Site Phase of projects for Valmet Tissue Machines. The primary responsibility will to check-out, verify and start-up in accordance with drawings, instructions, and relevant technical documentation. The role also involves being Valmet's representative towards the client.

In this role major responsibilities will involve the 3 phases of projects:

Engineering & Sourcing phase:

• The Lead Start-Up Engineer plans the check-out of own part of the project, establishes ECO's, participate in the check-out in the assembly hall, makes a check-out schedule.
• Books the necessary tools and equipment and send them to Site.
• Gives support to project managers during the delivery phase in technical matters both internally and towards the customer.

Site phase:

• The Lead Start-Up Engineer will act as Valmet Start-Up Coordinator in cases where Commissioning Coordinator is not on site or not included in contract.
• The Lead Start-Up Engineer carries out the check-out of own part of project, coordinates, and reports to the Commissioning Coordinator.
• Reporting how the work is progressing and how much resources are being used to the Site manager / Installation Coordinator / Project manager.
• The Lead Start-Up Engineer also reports deviations and is responsible for following up on own part of the punch list.

Guarantee phase:

• The Lead Start-Up Engineer is a support to the Reference Manager that the scope of delivery works in the customer's environment and shall support after takeover until handover to the Service Organization.
• Lead Start-Up Engineer can be given responsibility for carrying out performance guarantee trials at the customer.

Expectations:
