Job summary

Domtar's Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, SC seeks a Process Specialist to support R&U operations and the Fiberline and Recovery & Utilities areas. You will join a safety-focused team and contribute to maintenance planning, outages, and root-cause analysis.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of related experience in pulp and paper or chemical engineering, strong communication, and proficiency with SAP, Excel, PI, and project tools.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Pulp & Paper or Chemical Engineering with relevant experience (5+ years) or 10 years of related operations experience.
• Familiar with boilers, evaporators, water/effluent, recaust/kiln operations.
• Safety-conscious with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.
• Experience using SAP, Excel, Word, PI, PARCView and Microsoft Projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Be an advocate for and an active member of the P&U management team.
• Support all operations and maintenance activities of the R&U area.
• Review daily operations strategies to ensure safe, efficient goal attainment.
• Identify and participate in CI and reliability improvement activities.
• Review work orders and help prioritize weekly planning and scheduling.
• Participate in weekly planning and scheduling for maintenance work.
• Coordinate outages and respond to unscheduled events.
• Assist in contractor selection and monitor spend against budget.
• Monitor day-to-day maintenance and operating expenditures against budgets.
• Foster good communication among rotating shifts, day maintenance, contract teams, and day staff.
• Engage in root cause failure analysis and SOP reviews.
• Participate in SOP development and training.
• Periodically fill vacancies for the R&U Manager.

The Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, South Carolina is seeking talent to fill the position of Process Specialist. The Process Specialist position is in the Pulp & Utilities (P&U) Department which includes both the Fiberline and Recovery & Utilities (R&U) areas. This position reports to the R&U Manager and will be a process resource for the area.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Be an advocate for and an active member of the P&U management team.
• Support all operations and maintenance activities of the R&U area.

• Help identify and participate in continuous improvement and reliability improvement activities.
• Review work orders and help to prioritize weekly planning and scheduling.
• Participate in the weekly planning and scheduling process for maintenance work.
• Work with department leadership to help plan the scheduled outages and react to unscheduled events.
• Participate in selection of contractors and monitoring of spend against budget.
• Help to monitor day to day maintenance and operational spending against budgets.
• Help to facilitate good communications between the rotating shift teams, day maintenance teams, contract maintenance teams, and day staff.
• Participate in trouble shooting efforts such as Root Cause Failure Analysis.
• Participate in review of existing SOP's, development of new SOP's, and training of personnel as needed.
• Periodically fill vacancies for the R&U Manager.

Required Qualifications/Professional Experience:

• BS degree in Pulp and Paper or Chemical Engineering with at least five years of appropriate experience; or a minimum of 10 years of operational experience related to Fiberline or Recovery & Utilities area.
• Should be familiar with most operational aspects of boilers, evaporators, water/effluent, and recaust/kiln.
• Safety and team oriented with a good work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and computer skills.
• Experience with SAP, Excel, Word, PI, PARCView, and Microsoft Projects is desirable.
