CITGO Petroleum Corporation’s Lemont Refinery is seeking a paid 12-week HSE intern – Process Safety Engineer intern, onsite in Lemont, IL. You will learn refinery safety practices while assisting in implementing and maintaining PSM systems and communicating critical performance data to HSSE.

The role emphasizes HazOp/LOPA analysis, collaboration with multiple engineering teams, and delivering training on process safety management, with a range of incentives and a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Assist hazard analyses (HazOp, LOPA, what-if) and what-if checklists
• Support PHA program and PHA lifecycle
• Develop interim risk reduction strategies for high-consequence scenarios
• Participate in HSE meetings
• Interact with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to address process safety issues
• Develop and deliver training on process safety management
