Job summary

Williams is seeking a Process Safety Engineer (Sr or Staff) to lead enterprise process safety programs across gas processing, transmission and LNG operations. You will implement PSM/RMP practices, guide investigations, and support regulatory inspections to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

The role requires a bachelor's in engineering, PE preferred, and 8–15+ years of related experience, with travel up to 35%. A hybrid work model is offered in many office roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field from an accredited program (or Engineering Technology with PE).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred; extensive process safety experience in energy or petrochemical sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements.
  • Experience leading PHAs and risk management activities across large facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead process safety programs (PHA, MOC, PSSR, siting, etc.) as a subject matter expert.
  • Facilitate PHAs for projects and operating facilities; mentor teams.
  • Support audits, regulatory inspections and incident investigations.
  • Provide guidance on PSM/RMP applicability and compliance to operations.
  • Travel up to 35% as required and drive continuous improvement in safety programs.

Join a Fortune 500 team that invests in your growth, values your contributions, and challenges you to make a lasting impact every day. **A Day in the Life:**As an Engineer on the Enterprise Process Safety team, you will collaborate across the organization to support compliance with process safety regulations and ensure consistent implementation of process safety programs and standards. You will provide support for a broad range of natural gas operations, including gathering and processing, transmission, storage, LNG, and power generation facilities. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert on process safety requirements and help operational teams understand, apply, and continuously improve process safety practices.**Responsibilities/Expectations:*** Serve as the subject matter expert and program lead for one or more process safety programs (e.g., facility siting, equipment spacing, Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Risk Management Plan (RMP) submissions, etc.)* Facilitate PHAs for projects and operating facilities* Train and certify personnel to facilitate one-node PHAs* Support internal and external process safety audits, assessments, and regulatory inspections* Participate in process safety-related incident investigations and root cause analyses* Lead process safety due diligence activities for potential acquisitions* Prepare and submit incident reports to the Chemical Safety Board (CSB), as required, and coordinate responses to agency inquiries* Provide guidance to operations teams on OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) applicability and compliance requirements* Monitor regulatory developments, evaluate and comment on proposed rule changes, and help guide organizational compliance strategies* Resolve complex technical and regulatory issues through sound engineering judgment, analysis, and innovation* Identify and implement opportunities to improve process safety programs, tools, and work processes, including the use of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence* Train, mentor, and support employees in process safety principles and program requirements* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate process safety impacts and provide technical guidance to maintain regulatory compliance* Performs sophisticated technical tasks and leads teams in projects of major scope and complexity* Participates in the development and implementation of technical standards and specifications* Interprets technological aspects of business and coordinates with leaders to ensure success* Prepares and delivers presentations* Applies expertise, knowledge and experience from projects that positively impacts earnings* Collaborates with others to ensure compliance, build improvement plans and meet training needs* Handles resources requirements for projects* Other duties as assigned**Education/Years of Experience:****Engineer Sr:*** Required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in a relevant field with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; A minimum eight (8) years of multifaceted engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry* Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and minimum seven (7) years of progressive engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry and PE Certification**Engineer Staff:*** Required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in a relevant field with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; A minimum fifteen (15) years of progressive engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry**Other Requirements:*** Strong working knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Program (40 CFR Part 68) regulations* Working knowledge of DOT Parts 192, 193, and 195, including an understanding of process safety-related requirements and the applicability of PSM, RMP, and DOT regulations across different operations* Experience facilitating PHAs for operating facilities and capital projects* Ability to travel up to 35% as required#LI-GC1**Why Tulsa?** Because here, you don’t have to choose between career and lifestyle.
