Job summary

Bachem Americas is seeking a Safety Process Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and support of a Process Safety Management system across sites in the Americas. You will champion PSM efforts, manage risk assessment activities, and maintain HSE documentation while identifying continual improvements.

Responsibilities include leading HAZOPs/HAZIDs, coaching team members, and ensuring compliance with OSHA/EPA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in chemical background with process safety experience.
• Associate's degree with 10+ years chemical process safety experience.
• 7–9 years as Process Safety Lead/Process Engineer in chemical/refinery/pharma.
• Familiar with FMEA, HAZOP, LOPA, Fault Tree analysis.
• Knowledge of global PSM regulations.
• Knowledge of PSM standards.
• Develop PSM policies, standards and processes for regional sites.
• Support PSM compliance programs across sites.
• Keep up-to-date on local/state/federal PSM regulations.
• Develop PSM risk assessments and emergency plans.
• Lead critical PSM accident investigations and corrective actions.
• Review PSM audits and reports; implement actions.
• Provide input on PSM priorities and resources.
• Monitor PSM KPIs and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Manages HAZOPs, performs safety assessments and HAZIDs.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members.
• Verify completion of high-risk PHA recommendations and audits.
• Evaluate risks with identified hazards per regulations.
• Be site contact for OSHA, EPA, and RAGAGEP standards.
• Ensure communication across engineering disciplines.
• Develop and maintain process safety standards and forms.
• Facilitate process safety implementation across the organization.
• Interface with clients to address process safety challenges with tailored solutions.
• Assist in development of PSM/RMP corporate requirements.
