Job summary

Kiewit in Houston, TX, seeks an intern to support engineers on oil, gas and chemical projects with a focus on safe, cost-effective designs. The role offers hands-on learning, mentorship, and exposure to diverse disciplines across EPCC delivery models.

You will perform basic calculations, learn codes/standards, and expand knowledge through structured training while contributing to projects touching LNG, midstream, refining and petrochemical markets.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Fire Protection, Any related
• Have the basic knowledge of process safety including Source model, Toxic release and dispersion models, Fires and Explosions, Fire protection, Hazard Identification, and Risk Assessment.
• Able to work full-time during the summer
• Communicates effectively orally and in writing. Present ideas clearly and in professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer. Seeks out more experienced engineer for guidance and expertise, and solves problems using well established scientific principles.
• Ability to define, identify the problem and report to a senior engineer.
• Candidate will be an OGC Engineer Intern who can quickly become familiar with various Oil, Gas, and Chemical processes or technologies
• Expand knowledge through training and work experience.
• Learn codes and standards to complete assignments. Seeks to interpret codes and standards in a logical manner, and perform tasks according to company procedure industry codes and regulations.
• Perform non-routine technical assignments of limited scope.
• Ability to draw conclusions and present finding to senior leadership.
• Proactive about learning new information and skills.
