CHS Inc. is offering a Process Safety Engineering Intern position at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, Kansas. The role provides technical support for process safety management and helps monitor safety programs, policies, and compliance with regulations.

You will work with CHS Safety Group, interacting with management, employees, and regulators to identify issues, analyze data, and develop recommendations. A four-year engineering program and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Safety Engineering/Safety Management or Chemical Engineering program at a four-year college/university.
• Available to work 40 hours per week.
• Junior enrolled in a Safety or Chemical Engineering program at a four-year college/university.
• Previous internship experience in the petrochemical or refining industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying and resolving basic safety issues.
• Utilize computer systems and spreadsheets to analyze, monitor and track safety systems.
• Identify substandard conditions and communicates findings.
• Use fact-based analysis to help identify root causes of process safety problems or incidents.
• Assist with developing recommendations and monitoring implementations.
• Analyze data and provide comprehensive reports.

We are looking for a **Process S****afety Engineering Intern** to provide technical support assistance on matters relating to process safety management within our refinery setting, and will be responsible for assisting with the monitoring of company safety programs, policies, and compliance with federal, state and local safety codes and regulations. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. **Responsibilities** * Assist in identifying and resolving basic safety issues.* Utilize computer systems and spreadsheets to analyze, monitor and track safety systems.* Identify substandard conditions and communicates findings.* Use fact-based analysis to help identify root causes of process safety problems or incidents.* Assist with developing recommendations and monitoring implementations.* Analyze data and provide comprehensive reports.* Function as part of a team in all aspects of the business strategy that applicant might be associated with.* Interact effectively with line management, employees, union personnel, professional staff and regulatory inspectors and builds relationships.* Assist the CHS Safety Group when working with suppliers and contractor services in supporting company safety initiatives and generating cost avoidance/savings strategies.* Communicate (when directed) across the CHS business units to share concepts and implementation strategies.* Plan, organize and prioritize issues impacting the CHS Safety Group. **Minimum Qualifications (required)** * Currently enrolled in a Safety Engineering/Safety Management or Chemical Engineering program at a four-year college/university.* Available to work 40 hours per week. **Additional Qualifications** * Currently a Junior enrolled in a Safety or Chemical Engineering program at a four-year college/university.* Previous internship experience in the petrochemical or refining industry. **Physical Requirements** * Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
