Job summary

Confidential employer in the Greater Baton Rouge area is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to build and run a robust PSM program from construction through startup and steady-state operations.

The role is hands-on and technical, focusing on PSM elements such as PHA/HAZOP facilitation, MOC, PSI, mechanical integrity, and PSSR to protect employees and the surrounding community.

Qualifications

• Hands-on PSM experience required.
• Direct experience executing PSM elements: PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MOC, PSI, mechanical integrity, PSSR.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Fire Protection, or related field.
• Experience with OSHA 1910.119 covered processes in chemical, energy, oil & gas, steel, or heavy manufacturing.
• 6+ years of safety, process-safety, or occupational-health experience.

Responsibilities

• Execute and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) program elements.

• Manage MOC reviews and documentation.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client, a major industrial manufacturer, is building a landmark greenfield facility in the Greater Baton Rouge area — and is hiring a Process Safety Engineer to help build and run its process safety program as the site moves from construction through startup and steady-state operations.

This is a hands-on, technical role centered on Process Safety Management (PSM). You'll execute the PHA, MOC, mechanical-integrity, and PSSR work that protects employees, contractors, facilities, and the surrounding community — a rare chance to stand up process safety for a major new Ascension Parish operation from the ground floor.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Execute and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) program elements
• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs/HAZOPs) and LOPA studies
• Manage Management of Change (MOC) reviews and documentation
• Maintain Process Safety Information (PSI) — P&IDs, safe operating limits, and chemical data
• Support mechanical-integrity inspection and testing programs
• Conduct Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) as equipment and systems come online
• Perform risk assessments, job safety analyses, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective-action tracking
• Support OSHA regulatory compliance, contractor safety, permit-to-work, industrial hygiene, and emergency preparedness
• Monitor leading and lagging indicators and prepare reports, trend analyses, and recommendations
• Maintain audit-ready compliance records and support regulatory inspections

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Level and compensation are set by experience:

• Process Safety Engineer (Mid-Level): $80,000-$105,000
• Senior Process Safety Engineer: $105,000-$130,000

• Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and enterprise EHS/PSM systems
• Professional working proficiency in both English and Korean a plus but not required
