Job summary

South Jersey Industries seeks an Engineering Process Safety Documentation Intern to support PSI, engineering records, and project deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with cross-functional teams to organize documents, maintain PSI files, and help implement document management workflows using SharePoint and other systems. This internship provides exposure to process safety management and project execution.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Safety Engineering, Information Management, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a collaborative team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interest in engineering systems, industrial processes, process safety, and technical documentation
• Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and consistency

Responsibilities

• Organize and track engineering and process safety documentation.
• Maintain PSI files, including PFDs & P&IDs, equipment data sheets, procedures, and calculations.
• Ensure documents are reviewed, approved, issued, and archived per procedures.
• Maintain document registers, metadata, revision histories, and transmittal records.
• Support document control across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup.
• Assist with vendor documentation and manuals.
• Participate in audits to identify missing or outdated docs.
• Help develop workflows, templates, and standards.
• Support information management systems and SharePoint.
• Develop reports and metrics on engineering deliverables and PSI status.
