Job summary

Turner Staffing Group in Hinkley, CA is seeking a Plant/Process Operator to help keep a quarry plant running safely and efficiently. You will operate crushing, screening, and conveying equipment, monitor production, and coordinate with the team to meet specs.

The role requires 1–2+ years in a similar setting, strong safety focus, and a valid driver’s license with reliable transport to the site. OT, weekends, and extended shifts may be necessary based on production needs.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years operating a crushing, screening, or processing plant in heavy industry.
• Working knowledge of crushers, screens, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Strong commitment to safety and following procedures consistently.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to the Hinkley site.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor crushing, screening, and conveying equipment to produce aggregate to specs.
• Start up, run, and shut down plant equipment safely.
• Monitor material flow, adjust settings, and maintain production rates and quality.
• Clear jams, blockages, and spillage around crushers, screens, and conveyors.
• Perform routine inspections, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
• Report mechanical issues and assist with repairs.
• Complete pre-shift exams and maintain logs.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, including belts and walkways.
• Follow MSHA regulations and site safety policies, including lockout/tagout.
• Communicate with plant supervisor and crew to coordinate production.

About the opportunity

Turner Staffing Group is partnered with an established quarry operation in Hinkley, CA, and is seeking a Plant/Process Operator to join their team. This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes pride in keeping a plant running safely and efficiently and wants steady work with a reliable operation.

What you\'ll do

• Operate and monitor crushing, screening, and conveying equipment to produce aggregate to required specifications.
• Start up, run, and shut down plant equipment following safe operating procedures.
• Monitor material flow, adjust settings, and make corrections to maintain production rates and product quality.
• Identify and clear jams, blockages, and spillage around crushers, screens, and conveyors.
• Perform routine inspections, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Report mechanical issues and assist maintenance personnel with repairs as needed.
• Complete pre-shift workplace exams and maintain accurate production and equipment logs.
• Keep work areas clean and organized, including housekeeping around belts and walkways.
• Follow all MSHA regulations and site safety policies, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Communicate with the plant supervisor, loader operators, and other crew members to coordinate production.

What we\'re looking for

• [1–2+] years of experience operating a crushing, screening, or processing plant in an aggregate, quarry, mining, or similar heavy industrial setting.
• Working knowledge of crushers, screens, conveyors, and related plant equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Strong commitment to safety and the ability to follow procedures consistently.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as production requires.
• Valid driver\'s license and reliable transportation to the Hinkley site.

Preferred qualifications

• Current MSHA Part 46 training.
• Experience with plant control systems or PLC-operated equipment.
• Loader or heavy equipment operating experience.
• Basic welding or maintenance skills.

Physical requirements and work environment

• Work outdoors in desert conditions, including extreme summer heat, wind, and dust.
• Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to [50] pounds regularly.
• Work around heavy machinery, loud noise, and moving equipment while wearing required PPE.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
