Qualifications

  • Ability to understand dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Ability to review technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple jobs and outside vendors within tight production schedules.
  • Must meet ITAR requirements and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, track, and coordinate outside processing requirements for production jobs.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to maintain production schedules and required delivery dates.
  • Monitor jobs throughout outside processing and proactively address potential delays.
  • Track production priorities and communicate changes to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support planning activities for heat treatment, destructive testing, non-destructive testing, and other special processes.
  • Review customer contracts, purchase requirements, technical specifications, and applicable processing requirements.
  • Interpret dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements to support accurate planning.
  • Review requirements related to heat treatment and materials testing.
  • Ensure planning activities accurately reflect customer and production requirements.
  • Attend daily production meetings and provide current status updates on active jobs.
  • Maintain accurate job tracking information within company ERP systems.
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based production reports and metrics.
  • Use pivot tables and other Excel functions to analyze and organize production data.
  • Identify scheduling risks and communicate potential delays to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure planning and outside processing activities comply with applicable customer and internal requirements.
  • Support compliance with AS9100 and Nadcap requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and traceability throughout the planning process.
  • Coordinate with Quality personnel when technical or compliance questions arise.
  • Follow established aerospace manufacturing procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with outside processors and suppliers regarding job status, priorities, and delivery requirements.
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other internal departments to maintain workflow.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure critical deadlines are achieved.
  • Escalate scheduling, quality, or processing issues when necessary.

A confidential aerospace manufacturing company is seeking a detail-oriented Planning Processor to support production planning and outside processing within an aluminum open-die forging environment. This position coordinates outside vendors, reviews customer and technical requirements, tracks production activity, and ensures jobs move through outside processes accurately and on schedule.

1. Job Summary

The Planning Processor is responsible for planning, tracking, and coordinating outside processing requirements for aerospace manufacturing operations. This includes working with vendors supporting heat treatment, destructive and non-destructive testing, and other special processes while monitoring schedules and communicating job status to internal teams.

The ideal candidate has approximately 2 years of manufacturing experience, strong mathematical skills, an understanding of dimensions and tolerances, and experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel. Previous aerospace experience is strongly preferred, while SolidWorks, CAD, and aluminum forging experience are valuable additional qualifications.

2. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Production Planning & Outside Processing
  • Plan, track, and coordinate outside processing requirements for production jobs.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to maintain production schedules and required delivery dates.
  • Monitor jobs throughout outside processing and proactively address potential delays.
  • Track production priorities and communicate changes to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support planning activities for heat treatment, destructive testing, non-destructive testing, and other special processes.
Technical & Contract Review
  • Review customer contracts, purchase requirements, technical specifications, and applicable processing requirements.
  • Interpret dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements to support accurate planning.
  • Review requirements related to heat treatment and materials testing.
  • Ensure planning activities accurately reflect customer and production requirements.
  • Support Engineering and Manufacturing with technical planning requirements as needed.
Production Tracking & Reporting
  • Attend daily production meetings and provide current status updates on active jobs.
  • Maintain accurate job tracking information within company ERP systems.
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based production reports and metrics.
  • Use pivot tables and other Excel functions to analyze and organize production data.
  • Identify scheduling risks and communicate potential delays to appropriate stakeholders.

3. Qualifications
Required
  • Approximately 2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and production data tracking.
  • Experience working with ERP or manufacturing planning systems.
  • Strong mathematical proficiency, including basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to understand dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Ability to review technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple jobs and outside vendors within tight production schedules.
  • Must meet applicable ITAR requirements and be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred
  • College degree or coursework in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
  • Experience within an aluminum open-die forging environment.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment and materials testing processes.
  • Familiarity with destructive and non-destructive testing requirements.
  • Experience with Sage ERP.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and Nadcap requirements.
4. Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday.
  • Regular use of hands for computer, documentation, and manufacturing-related activities.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work around manufacturing equipment and production operations.
  • Visual ability sufficient to review technical documentation, dimensions, and manufacturing requirements.
5. Working Conditions
  • On-site position in Santa Fe Springs, California.
  • Combination of office and aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and elevated temperatures.
  • Hearing protection and other required PPE must be worn in designated areas.
  • Additional hours beyond a standard 40-hour workweek may be required based on production needs.
