Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc. in South Carolina seeks a Process Piping Project Manager to lead industrial piping projects from estimate handoff to closeout, coordinating schedules, budgets, procurement, labor resources, and subcontractors while ensuring safety and quality.

You will serve as the primary client contact, manage field operations, review drawings and specifications, and drive on-time, on-budget delivery in line with contracts and industry standards.

  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, welding, and fabrication processes.
  • Experience reading P&IDs, isometrics, and mechanical drawings.

Process Piping Project Manager
Position Summary

The Process Piping Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of industrial process piping projects. This role oversees project schedules, budgets, procurement, labor resources, subcontractors, safety compliance, quality control, and client relations from project award through final closeout. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers and ensures all projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and applicable industry standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management
  • Manage all phases of industrial process piping projects from estimating handoff through project completion.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, manpower forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project costs, productivity, and profitability.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and ongoing progress meetings.
  • Prepare and submit change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.
  • Track project milestones and identify risks impacting schedule or budget.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities including punch lists, turnover packages, and as-built drawings.
Client Relations
  • Act as the primary liaison between the company, clients, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and provide regular project status updates.
  • Resolve project issues and conflicts in a professional and timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for additional work and future projects.
Field Operations Oversight
  • Coordinate activities of superintendents, foremen, welders, pipefitters, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure field crews have necessary materials, equipment, and information.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and quality.
  • Support construction teams with technical and operational guidance.
Safety and Compliance
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure all welding, fabrication, and installation activities comply with applicable codes and standards.
Procurement and Materials Management
  • Coordinate purchasing of pipe, fittings, valves, equipment, and specialty materials.
  • Review vendor quotations and select suppliers.
  • Monitor material delivery schedules to support construction activities.
  • Manage equipment rentals and subcontractor agreements.
Financial Management
  • Prepare project budgets and cost forecasts.
  • Review labor productivity and job cost reports.
  • Approve invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Identify and mitigate cost overruns.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure installations comply with project specifications and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Verify documentation and turnover packages are complete.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in industrial construction, process piping, mechanical contracting, or related industry.
