Job summary

INEOS Oligomers is seeking a Process Operator to manage day-to-day operations for the LAO/PAO facility at Chocolate Bayou, Alvin, TX. The role reports to the Shift Supervisor and collaborates with Operations Engineers, MOC Coordinator, and the Operations team to ensure safe, reliable production.

The operator will execute daily work, troubleshoot process issues, and maintain product quality while upholding Responsible Care principles and INEOS Safety Standards across all shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience with safe operation of chemical process plants is desirable.
• Ability to follow operating guidelines and safety practices.
• Willingness to participate in training of new operators.

Responsibilities

• Operate the LAO/PAO facility in Chocolate Bayou to ensure safe and reliable production.
• Troubleshoot control and equipment problems and make sound operating decisions.
• Execute daily instructions from the Shift Supervisor with guidance from Engineers and MOC coordinator.
• Lead or participate in safety inspections and maintain quality parameters.

With LAO manufacturing facilities in Canada and Belgium, INEOS Oligomers is one of the large merchant suppliers of Linear Alpha Olefins (LAO).

LAO is used in a variety of industries, with main markets being comonomers for polyethylene, feedstock for production of lubricants, surfactants, lubricant additives, and paper sizing chemicals, and base stock for drilling fluids. PAO is a synthetic lubricant.

As part of its growth strategy, INEOS Oligomers invested $500 million in a new world scale LAO & PAO production facility located on INEOS Olefins & Polymers site in Chocolate Bayou, Alvin, Texas.

Purpose of the job:

This role will report to the Shift Supervisor.

It is expected that Process Operator will be responsible for safe and reliable operations of the PAO & LAO facility working with Shift Supervisors, Operations Engineers, the MOC Coordinator, and the Operations team.

The Process Operators will be responsible running the day-to-day operations for the LAO and/or PAO oligomers facility at Chocolate Bayou.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Team and individual goals associated with all aspects of the safe and optimal operation and control of plant equipment.

• will be responsible for execution of the daily business instructions that are provided by the Shift Supervisor with guidance from Operations Engineers and MOC coordinator.
• participates in team activities related to planning, establishing team goals, setting priorities, budgeting, establishing key performance indicators and measurement indicators.

The principal accountabilities for the Process Operator are:

• Ensure daily business instruction issued by Shift Supervisor as completed.
• As part of daily duties make good operator rounds.
• Ensure all products meet the specified quality parameters.
• Ensure that all effluent streams meet the specified quality parameters.
• Monitor unit operations and troubleshoot process problems.
• Make sound decisions based on operating guidelines and principles
• Lead safety inspections in area of responsibility, and execute safe work practices
• Identification and rectification of unsafe work practice
• Knowledge of Safe Work Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and Special Permits
• Complete unit HSE and Process Safety Checks
• Work with Maintenance and Engineering for the execution of various maintenance tasks
• Work well with others under any situation.
• Must participate in the training of new operators
• Must qualify and be sufficient in all process areas.
• Operates the following types of processes and equipment: DCS systems, HMIs, reactors, cooling tower, pressure flash drums, rotating and reciprocating compressors, pumps, propylene refrigeration system, reactor wash system, distillation towers (including vacuum towers), tank farm, rail car
