PROCESS MODELING DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - Research Center

Join to apply for the PROCESS MODELING DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - Research Center role at Howmet Aerospace.

Responsibilities

This position involves working in a close team environment performing a combination of development and support for Howmet’s casting facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Constructing and solving large 3-D finite element models to predict and reduce as-cast defects in various product lines.
  • Developing and improving procedures, boundary conditions, material databases, and applying process modeling for investment casting foundry applications.
  • Expanding application of heat transfer and fluid dynamics modeling within Howmet Engines.
  • Enhancing the technical capabilities of Howmet’s castings through simulated design.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in an Engineering Discipline.
  • Ability to analyze fluid flow, heat transfer, and stress/strain in manufacturing processes.
  • At least 2 years of experience in finite element casting simulation, thermal analysis, stress/strain analysis, or CFD, with advanced CAD skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship not available.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 3 years of experience in metal casting industry.
  • Knowledge of ProCAST, FEA, CFD, and programming skills (Python, C/C++, Fortran).
  • Experience with investment casting processes, JMatPro, and physical metallurgy.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in teams.
