Job summary

Minerals Technologies has an opening for a Process & Manufacturing Support Engineering Intern in CT. The intern will help develop and maintain applications to control the manufacturing process, and support initiatives to maximize equipment availability, reliability, productivity, and reduce maintenance costs.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, creating flow diagrams and P&ID’s, compiling design information, identifying upgrade opportunities, and developing new processes.

Qualifications

• Relevant coursework, academic projects, laboratory work, research experience, or previous internship experience related to engineering principles and practices.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in the English language with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
• Familiar with the operation of standard chemical plant unit operations.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office software and other standard software in an engineering and office environment.
• Ability to read, understand and generate engineering drawings and documents including P&ID’s, PFD’s, mass and energy balance, equipment specifications, process descriptions, etc.

Responsibilities

• Process troubleshooting and optimization.
• Develops engineering flow diagrams, P&ID’s, and mass/energy balances for existing and new processes.
• Compile and maintain basis of design information.
• Identify technologies, process equipment, and unit operations for upgrades.
• Develop new processes for manufacturing of products.
• Gather and correlate data for product and process development and scale-up.
• Develop equipment specifications and perform due diligence with risk assessment.
• Read and configure control system documentation and electrical connections.
• Explore new technologies and procedures to enhance diagnostic capabilities for maintenance.
