Hiring for an Process Engineer in Middletown, CT

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Process Improvement Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our manufacturing processes by evaluating current methods and developing detailed work and process instructions to ensure consistency and repeatability. Your expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles will be crucial in analyzing problems and delivering effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
  • Observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
  • Adhere to company operating procedures, benefit rules, employment policies, and safety policies.
  • Evaluate current methods of fabrication and product quality.
  • Develop detailed work and process instructions.
  • Audit operations performance and make recommendations based on analysis.
  • Improve fabrication methods using knowledge of product design, materials, processes, tooling, and equipment capabilities.
  • Define and write product, test, and process specifications.
  • Provide process training and written work instructions to Supervisors and technicians.
  • Coordinate and communicate with external suppliers.
  • Oversee production, installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and development of processes.
  • Establish high yielding, cost-effective processes based on product and customer quality requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
  • Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) for process optimization.
  • Evaluate and validate process and design alternatives based on manufacturability.
  • Lead equipment/process improvement projects utilizing sound project management techniques.
  • Provide technical product support to the sales team for customer concerns.
  • Execute process improvement objectives on schedule within a team environment.
  • Work with finance to understand plant financial metrics and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist the maintenance team with equipment upgrades and maintenance requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or relevant experience.
  • High competency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM applications.
  • Experience in batch process/fabrication operations.
  • Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Knowledge of Bills of Material, Travelers, and Manufacturing and Planning Systems.
  • Skilled at multitasking and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of cost of goods sold and its relation to manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with analysis and work instructions.
  • Competency with Solidworks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in plastics/rubber is a plus.
  • Electrical experience, including controls/PLCs, shift trends, and automation, is beneficial.
  • Competency with Lean Manufacturing techniques is preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in fabrication/production is preferred.
  • Competency with automation design is preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $44.00/hr.
