Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Engineer to lead capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvements within a regulated manufacturing environment in Fair Lawn, NJ. You will collaborate with operations, quality, EHS, and maintenance to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget while supporting production operations.

Qualifications include a B.S. in an engineering discipline and 4+ years of experience in chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing, with exposure to Lean/Six Sigma

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in a complex chemical, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
• Experience with engineering data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.).
• Exposure to project management fundamentals and familiarity with industrial equipment or automation systems; experience with MS Project/Smartsheet is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across functions and levels.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple priorities in a regulated setting.
• Commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and execution of capital projects and engineering initiatives, including scope development, cost estimation, scheduling, and progress tracking.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders for safe, timely project execution.
• Assist in equipment evaluation, procurement support, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Participate in design reviews and process safety reviews (HAZOP/PHA) for new and modified equipment and systems.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, and milestones; track risks and scope changes.
• Collect and analyze process and equipment data to support engineering evaluations and decision-making.
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues during project execution and handover to operations.
• Support development of project documentation including scopes of work, drawings, and turnover packages.
• Participate in process trials, validation activities, and engineering studies.
• Develop and update SOPs, work instructions, and engineering reports to align with quality and regulatory standards.
