Allegion plc is seeking a Process Engineering Technician for Coatings in Indianapolis, IN. The role focuses on improving coatings processes, including electroplating, ecoat, powder coat, and anodizing, to drive quality and reliability on the plant floor.

You will report to the Coatings Engineering Leader and collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to implement process improvements, support new equipment, and manage small to medium projects.

Formación

• Associate degree and 2+ years experience or a Bachelor's degree.
• 2+ years manufacturing experience in process improvement.
• Willingness to pursue CEF certification.
• Experience with metal surface-finishing processes preferred.
• Knowledge of powder-coat systems preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD/Creo for coatings layouts preferred.

Job Summary:

Coatings processes—including electroplating, ecoat, powder coat, and architectural anodizing—are critical to our manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Coatings Engineering Leader, the Process Engineering Technician develops, maintains, and improves processes in a fast-paced, hands‑on team environment—driving quality, reliability, and innovation on the plant floor.

What You Will Do:

• Responsible for improving first-pass yield (FPY) at MDI; troubleshoot quality and throughput issues in real time.
• Lead decision‑making on material review board (MRB) dispositions to ensure correct disposition and scrap/rework decisions.
• Complete pre‑ and post‑process testing to ensure quality compliance.
• Execute preventive maintenance, including filter changes, pH checks, tank makeups, line walks, and general equipment maintenance.
• Identify critical spares and partner with Maintenance to improve reliability.
• Work with Engineering to support new equipment and rebuilds.
• Support and/or lead process‑improvement initiatives; design racking and develop or improve coating recipes for new and existing parts.
• Support the Manufacturing Engineer with new part, process, and equipment implementation, including MES setup and configuration.
• Assist with racking design and coatings layout using AutoCAD or Creo.
• Manage small‑to‑medium projects from business case through implementation.
• Partner with engineers, Operations, and suppliers on equipment quotes and purchases.
• Develop work instructions and standard work; recommend and implement process improvements.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Associate degree plus two years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree.
• Two or more years of manufacturing experience in process improvement.
• Strong prioritization and follow‑through skills.
• Willingness to pursue CEF certification.
• Preferred: Experience with metal surface‑finishing processes and equipment.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of powder‑coat systems and technologies.
• Preferred: Training and experience with Nordson powder‑coat spray systems.
