Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a senior Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership on a major multi-discipline project. You will collaborate with the Project Manager, PMT, and Client to ensure performance, cost control, and schedule adherence.

This role requires extensive engineering management experience and strong communication across areas. The ideal candidate brings at least 15 years of process design engineering leadership, PE or PMP preferred, and the ability to mentor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer registration or PMP registration is highly preferred or may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for large multi-area projects and support the Project Manager on cost, schedule, and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with Client on technical design issues and with PMT on execution challenges.
• Review Engineer reports and manage engineering budgets, schedules, and scope changes.
• Develop or facilitate project-specific engineering and design procedures with proper approvals.
• Lead inter-discipline coordination and ensure overall quality control of engineering work.
• Monitor 3D model coordination, clash detection, and cross-discipline issue resolution.

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope

Responsible for technical leadership of a large project with multiple areas and Project Engineers. Supports the Project Manager in managing project performance of the engineering team with respect to cost, schedule and Client satisfaction. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To

• Informing the Hargrove Project Manager of all technical issues, decisions, and problems encountered on project.
• Coordinating with Client on technical design issues.
• Coordinating with Project Management Team (PM, Construction Manager, Procurement Manager, Quality Manager, Project Controls Lead and Project Engineers) on execution issues
• Review of Project Engineer reports for the various areas of the project
• Supporting PM in managing: Engineering budgets and schedule and facilitating identification, estimating and documentation of changes in scope; Weekly and monthly reporting of engineering status and issues; The planning, scheduling and forecasting of engineering resources to be employed on the project with the Project Engineers, Project Discipline Leads and Department Resource Leaders; Discipline awareness of their man-hours and associated estimate basis as well as the TIC estimate quantities and the tracking against these for the recognition of scope changes as the project progresses.
• Developing or facilitating development of project specific engineering and design procedures Includes obtaining proper approvals if deviating from Client or Hargrove procedures.
• Coordinating and issuing of the documents that define the project scope (e.g. Scope & Criteria documents, Engineering Execution Plans supporting the PEP, etc.).
• Leading Inter-Discipline and inter-area coordination by resolving design issues among/between disciplines and Area Project Engineers.
• For 3D modeling projects, regularly reviewing the model with a focus on: Monitoring coordination between the area teams; considering loss prevention issues that cross disciplines; confirming clash detection is being done and clashes are resolved
• Ensuring overall quality control of engineering work.

Ideal Background

• Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university.
• Registration: Professional Engineering registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred or may be required.
• Experience: This position requires 15 or more years of relevant industrial experience in process design engineering and management.
