Job summary

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is hiring a General Assembly Vehicle Engineering Associate/Specialist. This role serves as the technical expert for the assigned area during vehicle launches, coordinating equipment installation, supplier selection, and implementation phases.

You will review requirements, prepare spec packages, communicate with Korea and US teams, and develop Assembly Process Sheets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; CATIA/CAD preferred.
• Willingness for domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical expert during vehicle launches.
• Coordinate and lead project activities, including new equipment installation, supplier selection, and implementation phases.
• Prepare specs after reviewing requirements (Quality, Safety, UPH, Layout).
• Communicate with Advanced Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering Team in Korea and other relevant teams in R&D from Korea/USA for successful launch.
• Host video conference in new vehicle design improvement and status follow up meeting.
• Prepare Assembly Process Sheets with method and line conditions and detailed pictures/text.
• Check workability and quality for vehicle assembly.
• Review vehicle drawings (torque, dimensions) and design work processes.
• Determine Man Hour based on MODAPTS and optimize labor allocation.
• Participate in Cross Functional Teams and problem-solving teams as required.
• Provide technical training to team members and support daily production issues.
• Review technical developments and propose new technology projects.
• Prepare presentations/reports to management.

JOB TITLE

General Assembly Vehicle Engineering Associate/Specialist

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Serve as technical expert of assigned area during vehicle launches.
• Coordinate and lead project activities, including new equipment installation, supplier selection, and implementation phases.
• Need to prepare spec package after reviewing requirement. (Quality, Safety, UPH, Layout, Ergonomics etc.)
• Communicate with Advanced Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering Team in Korea and other relevant teams in R&D from Korea/USA for successful launch.
• Host video conference in new vehicle design improvement and status follow up meeting.
• Responsible for preparation of the Assembly Process Sheets considering method and line condition with detailed picture and text.
• Work content to be explained through a picture drawn in the workers’ position according to work content, work order and work status.
• Responsible to check the workability and quality for vehicle assembly.
• Ability to check vehicle drawing (tightening hardware and torque, vehicle dimension, etc.) and design work process as the assembly sequence.
• Determine the Man Hour based on MODAPTS and optimize allocation Analyze and continuously improve performance of assigned area (safety, quality, production, cost, and human factors).
• Participate in Cross Functional Teams (CFT) and other problem-solving teams, as directed by Senior Management.
• Serve as technical expert for Team Members, Team Leaders, including technical training, as required.
• Support daily production issues as required.
• Continually review technical developments in area of responsibility and propose new technology projects as appropriate.
• Prepare presentations/reports on current projects, progress, and issues to management.
• Understand and control labor allocation.
• Meet all other requirements as assigned.
• Ability to perform multi-tasks with multiple priorities within a designated time frame.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent or equivalent desired
• (Other) No reason for disqualification for overseas travel or stay
• Skills/Knowledge: MS Word / Excel / PowerPoint
• Preferred Skills/Knowledge: CATIA, CAD or similar programs
• Good communication skills and excellent leadership skills
• Domestic / International travel required.

While in Office:

This position is primarily sedentary and requires working at a desk and computer for extended periods. Responsibilities may include:

When in Production Area (if applicable):

• Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended durations
