Job summary

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is seeking an experienced engineer to support new model launches. You will bridge Vehicle Engineering and the shop floor, develop standard documents, and validate processes for line trials and pilot builds.

Responsibilities include ensuring tooling readiness, tracking issues, performing root-cause analysis, and coordinating with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years in engineering, manufacturing, or production environments.
  • Experience defining and improving production processes related to tool systems.

  • Support new model launch activities including pilot builds and line trials.
  • Bridge Vehicle Engineering and shop floor to implement engineering requirements.
  • Develop and maintain standardized documents (OTS, JSC, P/Sheet, SWIS).
  • Assist in station allocation, work sequencing, and process validation.
  • Verify parts, tooling, and equipment readiness during build events.
  • Track build issues and support root cause analysis and countermeasures.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams for smooth launches.
  • Monitor hourly Meta Pro activities and assist floor-level event management.
  • Prepare work instructions with visuals and communicate to production teams.
  • Evaluate workability, ergonomics, and quality to meet requirements.
  • Participate in training and support skill transfer during launch phase.
  • Support data collection and reporting for launch KPIs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement for launch and line stabilization.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management review.
  • Meet other requirements as assigned; manage multiple tasks.

Job description

  • Support execution of new model launch activities including pilot builds and line trials.

  • Develop and maintain standardized documents such as OTS, JSC, P/Sheet, and SWIS.

  • Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth build execution.
  • Monitor and support hourly Meta Pro activities and assist with floor-level event management.
  • Prepare work instructions with detailed visuals and ensure proper communication to production teams.
  • Evaluate workability, ergonomics, and quality to ensure process meets production requirements.
  • Participate in training of production team members and support skill transfer during launch phase.
  • Support data collection and reporting for launch KPIs (quality, throughput, efficiency).
  • Assist in continuous improvement activities related to launch and line stabilization.
  • Support preparation of reports and presentations for management review.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to dynamic launch schedules.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent or equivalent desired
  • (Other) No reason for disqualification for overseas travel or stay
  • 3 or more years of experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, fabrication and/or production environment
  • 3 or more years of experience defining, developing, implementing, or improving production processes related to tool system

Preferred:

  • Experience in vehicle assembly processes and equipment of General Assembly division.
  • Experience or knowledge of the new plant construction process.
  • Up to 5 years of job‑related experience or an equivalent combination of education in an engineering/industrial environment
  • Up to 3 years of job‑related experience working Lean Manufacturing with knowledge of lean principles
  • Experience in vehicle assembly automation and automatic supply of assembly parts
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards (PFMEA, control plan, etc)
  • Good communication skills and excellent leadership skills

Travel Requirement

  • Domestic / International travel required.

Physical Demands

While in Office:

  • Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 15 pounds)

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk within the office environment as needed

When in Production Area (if applicable):

  • Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended durations
  • Repeated lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials and products (up to 25–30 pounds)
  • Manual dexterity for handling power tools, machinery, or production equipment
  • Working in environments that may be noisy, hot, or require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs and operate equipment safely and effectively
  • Capability to learn and work on multiple production processes, as required
  • Adequate visual and auditory abilities to identify safety hazards and communicate clearly
