Job summary

Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) Velva, ND seeks a Process Engineer to manage day-to-day operations at the Velva plant, a canola crushing, refining and biodiesel facility. You will monitor costs, yields, quality and performance while mentoring frontline teammates and coordinating with contractors and ADM colleagues.

The role requires a B.S. in Engineering and 3+ years in a food processing environment, plus strong leadership, safety mindset and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Ag Preferred) or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in a food processing production environment or similar industry
• Previous leadership experience
• Strong commitment to safety and quality
• Demonstrated leadership, strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with corporate departments
• Ability to work extended hours when required, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Oversight of specific processes and projects
• Project management may require purchasing of materials and supplies, equipment installation, budget tracking, employee training, and startup of projects
• Project design, development, and management that are specific to the operations of an operating department
• Conduct optimization assessments to identify existing and potential opportunities, propose solutions to improve performance primarily in the areas of energy, chemicals, product yields, and reliability
• Support capital projects including control strategy development, P&ID management, administration of process control narratives suitable for control application development and process start up
• Training and mentoring of colleagues, with the potential of indirectly managing 10 to 30 hourly colleagues
• Maintain a high degree of availability to a 24/7 operation.
