Job summary

Armstrong World Industries is seeking a Process Engineer to drive mid-to-large scale projects in Marietta, PA, focusing on cost reduction, new product development, and process improvement on the production floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in process engineering or technical role within manufacturing.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and execute projects across all phases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work off-shift hours as needed to support plant initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on technical support on the production floor to troubleshoot issues and improve performance.
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve plant performance objectives.
  • Conduct and support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to resolve process and material-related issues.
  • Apply process improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, DOE, and SPC.
  • Monitor and audit key process control systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach and train production operators on process control techniques, equipment capabilities, and best practices.
  • Support plant safety initiatives through participation in safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Develop and revise raw material specifications to meet customer and operational requirements.

The estimated base salary range for this role is $78,000 to $110,000 per year.

Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead medium to large-scale projects focused on:

  • Strong experience applying statistical tools (Minitab, DOE, SPC) in real-world manufacturing settings
  • Demonstrated success leading impactful process improvement initiatives with measurable results
