Job summary

Armstrong World Industries seeks a seasoned Process Engineer for Marietta, PA to lead major projects that drive cost reduction, product development, and process optimization. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in process engineering or a technical role within manufacturing.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and execute projects across all phases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work off-shift hours as needed to support plant initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an owner of the business by identifying opportunities and driving critical manufacturing improvements.
  • Provide hands-on technical support on the production floor to troubleshoot issues and improve performance.
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve plant performance objectives.
  • Conduct RCFA to resolve process and material-related issues.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, DOE, and SPC to drive improvements.
  • Monitor and audit key process control systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach and train production operators on process control techniques, equipment capabilities, and best practices.
  • Support plant safety initiatives through safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Develop and revise raw material specifications to meet customer and operational requirements.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead medium to large-scale projects focused on:
    • Cost reduction
    • New product development
    • Process improvement
  • Act as an owner of the business by identifying opportunities and driving critical manufacturing improvements
  • Provide hands‑on technical support on the production floor to troubleshoot issues and improve performance
  • Lead and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve plant performance objectives
  • Conduct and support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to resolve process and material‑related issues
  • Apply process improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Monitor and audit key process control systems and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coach and train production operators on:
    • Process control techniques
    • Equipment capabilities
    • Best practices
  • Support plant safety initiatives through participation in safety audits and risk assessments
  • Develop and revise raw material specifications to meet customer and operational requirements
