Job summary

ReCon Management Services is seeking an experienced engineer to develop and oversee engineering drawings and design packages from feasibility to construction. The role defines engineering requirements, estimates man-hours, and assigns work to teams while ensuring high-quality output.

The ideal candidate will have a BS degree in a related field with nine years of refinery, industrial, petrochemical, or utility experience and a PE license preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline with at least nine years of experience in refinery, industrial, petrochemical or utility industries.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee engineering drawings/packages for all project phases from feasibility to construction.
  • Define scope of engineering requirements, estimate project man-hours and resource needs.
  • Assign work to department personnel and convey project requirements via sketches and verbal guidance.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and maintain strong working relationships across teams.
  • Check drawing packages for completeness and accuracy and supervise overall package quality.

Job description

Overview

Develop and oversee the engineering and design efforts for the development of engineering drawings/packages for all phases of a project from the feasibility study to construction.

Duties
  • Planning and Scheduling - Defining a scope of the project engineering requirements, estimating project man hours and requirements.
  • Assigning work to departmental personnel. Concisely describing the project requirements by means of engineer’s sketches and verbal instructions.
  • Coordinating and organizing work with departmental personnel, as well as other disciplines. Maintaining a good working relationship.
  • Checking drawing packages (ie: P & IDs and Isometrics) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Supervise overall engineering package quality and production.
  • Give adequate instructions to enable the design staff to perform their task with quality work.
  • Perform calculations required for discipline.
  • Perform final calculation check and approval for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science Degree in a related discipline from an accredited university with at least nine (9) years of experience refinery, industrial, petrochemical or utility industries; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

License Requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement.
  • Professional Engineer License preferred.
Specific Skills
  • Knowledge related to Process Engineering calculations and design.
  • Experienced with Process design computer applications.
  • Knowledge and proficient with computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
  • In‑depth knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements for Process Engineering duties.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to climb, work at high elevations and work in confined spaces.
  • Able to work day or night shifts.
  • Able to work 10-to-12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 60 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required.
