Job summary

Mativ is seeking a Process Engineer Intern for a 10-week internship at the Whiting, WI mill starting May 2027. The intern will gain exposure to operations, multi-functional teams, real-time production, and project work with leadership interaction.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Paper Science, Chemistry, or Engineering degree and demonstrate initiative, strong communication, and teamwork. Safety, process optimization, and documentation tasks form the core responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Paper Science, Chemistry, or Engineering.
• At least 1 full year of coursework completed (preference for 2+ years).
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Strong initiative and drive, with a curiosity to learn and improve the business.
• Ability to analyze information to find opportunities and communicate findings.
• Able to pass pre-employment checks and minimum age requirement.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
• Work with the team on process efficiency improvements, cost savings, and technology advancement.
• Update existing mill documentation and drawings.
• Identify paper defects and develop plans to resolve them.
• Participate in new customer or product trials.
• Attend meetings with leadership and report on tasks.
• Modify or create standard operating procedures with leadership.
• Undertake project work as assigned by mill management.

Starting Pay: $22.00-$25.00/hr.,depending on experience

Schedule:This is typically a Monday through Fridaydaytime role, but evening and weekend work may berequired.

Mativ is actively pursuing interns witha Paper Science, Chemistry or Engineeringbackground to complete a10-weekinternshipprogram at our Whiting Mill starting inMay2027.TheInternwill provide exposure to many aspects of operations including a multi-functional team setting,real-timeproduction, process experience and project work with specific deliverables and exposure to the mill leadership team.Internswillparticipatein mill and production line operations to learn technical properties and quality issues of paper or paper-based materials.

Qualifications

Required

• Individualmust be currently enrolled and working toward a degree with a concentration in aPaper Science, Chemistry orEngineering discipline.
• Completion ofa minimum of 1-full year of course work with preference for individuals who have completed 2-full years.
• Must have solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
• Ideal candidates willpossesshigh initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business.
• Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively synthesize and communicate findings, and work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Abilityto pass pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcoholscreeninganda backgroundcheck.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability and willingness to meet ouroperators where theirwork is done on the operating floorand wear required PPE when doing so.

Preferred

• Preference is aminimum3.0 GPA in your academic field of study.
• Prior internship experience.
