Job summary

Mativ seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 at our Whiting, WI site. The role provides exposure to multi-functional teams, real-time production, and hands-on project work with specific deliverables and leadership exposure.

Ideal candidates are proactive, analytical, and collaborative, pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree with 1+ year of coursework completed. On-site schedule and PPE compliance are required throughout the 10+ week program starting May 2027.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program.
• Minimum of 1 full year of coursework completed; 2 years preferred.
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• Strong initiative, curiosity to learn and improve the business.
• Able to analyze information, synthesize findings, and communicate them clearly.

Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering Intern – Summer 2027

Location: Whiting, WI

Starting Pay: $22.00‑$25.00/hr., depending on experience

Schedule: This is typically a Monday through Friday daytime role.

ElectricalEngineerIntern(Summer 2027) – Whiting, WI

Mativ is actively pursuing interns with an electrical engineering background to complete a 10+ week on-site internship program at our Whiting Mill starting in May 2027. The internship will provide exposure to many aspects of operations including a multi-functional team setting, real-time production, process experience and project work with specific deliverables and exposure to the mill leadership team. Interns will participate in mills and production line operations to learn technical properties and quality issues of paper or paper-based materials.

Ideal candidates will possess high initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business. Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively communicate, and work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
• Work with the team on process efficiency improvements, cost savings and/or technology advancement.
• Update existing mill documentation and drawings.
• Attend meetings with leadership team and report out on assigned tasks.
• Work with leadership to modify or create standard operating procedures.
• Project work as assigned by mill management.

Qualifications

Required

• Individual must be currently enrolled and working toward a degree with a concentration in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
• Completion of a minimum of 1 full year of course work with preference for individuals who have completed 2 full years.
• Must have solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
• Ideal candidates will possess high initiative and drive, with a curiosity to perpetually learn and improve our business.
• Key requirements include the ability to analyze information to find opportunities, effectively synthesize and communicate findings, and work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical capabilities test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and a background check.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability and willingness to meet our operators where their work is done on the operating floor and wear required PPE when doing so.

Preferred

• Preference is a minimum 3.0 GPA in your academic field of study.
• Prior internship experience.
